LINGERIE CARE GUIDE
Wacoal’s lingerie is meticulously crafted with high quality fabrics, designed to make you feel your very best. Maximise the longevity of your garments with our guide below, offering information on how to care for our luxury bras, briefs and nightwear.
WASHING YOUR LINGERIE
1. Hand Wash Only
As stated on your lingerie’s label, we recommend hand washing your bra after every other wear, a gentle process that prevents damage to the garment.
2. Do Not Dry Clean
We recommend against dry cleaning garments as this can can break down the elastics that provide stretch and shape retention in your bra.
3. Do Not Bleach
Do not use bleach as this will damage delicate fabrics and change colours. Wash your bra in lukewarm water with a gentle detergent, and delicately rub the fabric. Avoid washing multiple garments at once as this can lead to colour transfer.
DRYING YOUR LINGERIE
1. Air-dry Only
Always air-dry your bras, by hanging them or laying flat.
2. Do Not Tumble Dry
Never radiator or machine dry, as the heat can damage the fabrics and alter the shape, while underwires can cut through the casing and cause damage to moving parts. Furthermore, never hang them by the straps or band to prevent stretching.
ROTATE YOUR LINGERIE
To extend the lifespan and fit of your lingerie, we recommend alternating between at least three everyday bras. This ensures you will always have a bra available to wear while one is being washed, and another drying.
Wacoal’s much-adored Classic Underwire Bras, Moulded or Contour Bras, and Plunge styles are essential for your daily rotation. To perfect your lingerie collection, add a non-wired Bralette for effortless comfort, a strapless bra for occasionwear dressing and a sports bra to maximise comfort during workouts.
STORING YOUR LINGERIE
The way you store your Wacoal lingerie is key when taking care of your garments; stacking your bras will help the cups to maintain their shape when not being worn. We advise that you avoid inverting any moulded or padded cups, as this can cause damage such as misshaping.
-
We recommend that you always gently handwash your lingerie in lukewarm water. This helps to prevent damage to the delicate fabrics and can help to extend the life of your garments. Machine-washing can cause elastane to lose its strength, and underwires to bend or break.
-
We suggest washing your bra after every other wear to maintain freshness and comfort. This helps to prevent the build-up of sweat and oils that can cause fabrics to wear and breakdown over time.
Rotating between several bras and allowing each one to dry naturally will aid in extending the lifespan of your bras.
-
We recommend following the steps below to hand wash your bra:
1) Fill a sink with lukewarm water and a small amount of gentle detergent
2) Let the bra soak for 10-15 mins
3) Delicately rub the garment, focusing on areas that need extra attention
4) Rinse in clean water until the water runs clear
5) Gently press and pat out the excess water
6) Reshape and lay the bra flat to air dry
-
We do not recommend using the washing machine to clean your lingerie. The heat and vigorous spinning can cause damage to delicate fabrics and cause misshaping to the garment. The underwire can also cut through the casing during machine washing and may even damage other garments or the machinery itself.
-
A gentle detergent is recommended for washing lingerie, it helps to clean and protect delicate materials like lace, satin and elastic. To preserve the fine craftsmanship of your lingerie, avoid using harsh chemicals such as bleach or fabric softener as this can damage our premium fabrics.
-
We would advise you to never tumble dry your lingerie as the high temperatures can cause damage to the delicate fabrics and alter the elasticity and shape of garments.
-
To help maintain the shape of your bra when not being worn, we recommend stacking your bras flat with the cups facing up when storing. Keep clasps fastened to prevent hooks getting caught on the fabrics of your beloved Wacoal bras.
When organising your Moulded Bras, Contour Bras or Push Up Bras, we know it may be tempting to invert cups into one another to save space, however we would advise against this as it can cause the bra to lose its shape.
Briefs should be carefully folded to maximise space in your lingerie drawer and keep fragile fabrics smooth.
